This weekend as part of Luftanje with Mastercard at the Vidikovac of Maksimir Park, the films Taxi Driver and Casino, two films by Martin Scorsese featuring iconic roles by Robert De Niro, will be screened.
Taxi Driver is scheduled for Saturday; it is a classic from 1976, directed by Martin Scorsese, which describes the struggles of a lonely and depressed 26-year-old New York taxi driver, Travis Bickle, who desperately tries to change his life.
It is one of the key works of American cinema from the 1970s, rich in impressive cinematography and music, and, as film critics claim, precise modernist direction, more focused on depicting the psychological turmoil of the protagonist than on non-classical exposition of events. Alongside Robert De Niro, the film also stars Cybill Shepherd and Jodie Foster, who was just under 13 years old when filming and was nominated for an Oscar for her role.
