Representatives of the Ministry of State Property and Cimos Group signed an agreement on Tuesday resolving disputed property relations on land in Buzet and Roč, under which Cimos paid 7.4 million kuna into the Croatian budget for the disputed 22 thousand square meters of land, thus becoming the undisputed owner of that land.
While signing the agreement with representatives of the Italian investor in Cimos, Minister of State Property Goran Marić stated that the agreement pertains to 22 thousand square meters of land for which there was no evidence that Cimos acquired it legally, but there was also no evidence that it belonged to the Republic of Croatia.
“An assessment of the value of that land was made, which is around one million euros, about 7.4 million kuna, and Cimos agreed to pay for that land. So we actually sold that land, and now they have legalized it for their needs, and it will be put into function for the development of Cimos,” emphasized Marić.

He also stated that nothing pleases him more than participating in the rescue of companies, especially manufacturing ones. He recalled how, a year ago, the conditions for today’s agreement were created, thanks to the engagement of the Slovenian Ministry of Economy and the Croatian Ministry of State Property in a way that the prerequisites were established to enable the entry of a strategic partner from Italy into Cimos.
“I am satisfied because 1,300 jobs, manufacturing jobs, have been saved, and production is a generator of economic development. During negotiations with the Italian company, we managed to ensure that production remains in Croatia, that the foreign partner does not relocate it to the surroundings, we showed that we know how to accept foreign investments. Not only did we save those jobs, but we also enabled new investment of 20 million euros by 2020,” said Goran Marić, adding that Cimos demonstrates a level of professionalism and business responsibility that has not yet been seen in Croatia.
