This Weekend Sees the Largest ‘Surge’ of Passengers at Split Ferry and Airport

At the Ferry and Airport in Split, around 145,000 passengers are expected in both directions this weekend, marking a record for this year, and a continuation of such traffic intensity is anticipated for next weekend as well.

“Today and tomorrow, around 87,000 passengers and 17,000 vehicles will transit through the Split ferry port, which is the largest traffic this year during a single weekend, and we expect the increase in the number of passengers to continue next weekend, that is, the first weekend in August,” said Jelena Ivulić, head of the Jadrolinija agency in Split, to Hina.

According to her, due to the increased influx of passengers at the ferry port traveling to the island of Brač, an extraordinary ferry line to Supetar has been introduced today. If necessary, Ivulić added, more extraordinary ferry lines for the central Dalmatian islands will be introduced over the weekend.

Mate Melvan, head of the Reception and Dispatch Service at Split Airport, reported that the largest influx of passengers this year is expected at that airport this weekend in the current part of the season.

“Today we expect the arrival of 111, and tomorrow 96 aircraft that will transport around 58,000 passengers in both directions, which is the largest traffic this year during a single weekend,” Melvan said to Hina. He added that the current intensity of passenger influx at the Airport is expected to continue into the first weekend of August.

“In the second half of July and the first half of August, the largest ‘surge’ of passengers occurs at Split Airport,” he added.
