Beer flowed in streams during the World Cup. Cafés and terraces were packed. However, according to Tax Administration data, receipts were poorly issued. This was a signal for the Minister of Finance to promptly send inspectors to the field, writes Dnevnik.hr.
“Our national football team achieved historic results day after day or match after match that we were all very proud of. However, we also noticed that taxpayers in certain segments do not follow this example and do not operate according to the rules of the tax profession,” said Minister Zdravko Marić for Nova TV, referring to the data that during the World Cup in Russia, about three percent fewer receipts were issued compared to the same period last year.
In addition to some hospitality providers, certain sellers of jerseys and souvenirs also did not issue receipts.
“In these cases, we see that we are dealing with recidivists, repeat offenders. We are not talking about small amounts, and here the tax administration and all services must be clear and firm, and unfortunately, we will be forced to take the strongest measures, which is closing or sealing certain establishments,” Marić is determined.
Last weekend, after the inspectors’ ‘raid’, the number of issued receipts increased by one percent. However, this is not a one-time action. The tax authorities warn that during the summer they will pay special attention to festivals and clubs.
