PBZ Group donated 305,910 kuna to the Children’s Hospital Zagreb

The Children’s Hospital Zagreb received a donation from PBZ Group amounting to 305,910 kuna for the purchase of a digital EMNG device with evoked potentials and the upgrade of the digital EEG system for the Pediatric Clinic of the Children’s Hospital Zagreb, it was announced on Monday by PBZ.

The donation is part of supporting the national project of the Ministry of Health “Monitoring Children with Neuro-Risks,” launched in 2007, and PBZ has been participating in it since 2008 by donating funds to hospitals necessary for the purchase of modern medical devices to standardize and improve the quality of healthcare for neuro-risk children across the country.

This is the third donation to the Children’s Hospital Zagreb, including a previously donated EEG device and equipment for a sensory room.

– Today, ten years after its launch, we are proud of the exceptional achievements of this project, of the 13.5 million kuna raised and of 35 donations to hospitals and social welfare homes, emphasized Dinko Lucić, CEO of Privredna banka Zagreb.

The development of neuro-risk children is monitored by the Children’s Hospital Zagreb through the “Early Intervention Program,” which concerns children born from pregnancies complicated by maternal illnesses, bleeding, infections, or fetal growth retardation, accounting for about 10 percent of newborns, of which about 3 percent are highly neuro-risk children.

In Croatia, approximately 4,000 neuro-risk children are potentially born each year, including about 1,000 highly neuro-risk children, who are at risk of developing cerebral palsy, mental retardation, speech, motor, concentration, and learning disorders, and timely diagnosis and habilitation can prevent the development of diseases.

The Department of Neuropediatrics at the Children’s Hospital is a national center of excellence in this field and is one of the initiators of the “Monitoring Children with Neuro-Risks” project, which is extremely important for the early diagnosis, treatment, and monitoring of neuro-risk children, emphasized Goran Roić, director of the Children’s Hospital Zagreb, in gratitude to PBZ Group for the donation.

Vlasta Đuranović, head of the Department of Neuropediatrics, emphasizes that the purchase of the device for evoked potentials and a new server for EEG-graph recording of neuro-risk children will enable the continuation of better systematic monitoring of children, earlier detection of associated impairments, and their timely treatment and rehabilitation, so that the consequences of impairments are minimized, considering the plasticity of the developing brain.
