This weekend, approximately 137,000 passengers are expected to pass through Split’s Ferry and Airport in both directions, which is a record for the current part of the season, and there are announcements for even greater traffic in these two Split ports over the next few weekends.
“Today and tomorrow, around 80,000 passengers and more than 16,000 vehicles will pass through Split’s Ferry Port, which is the highest traffic during a weekend this year,” said Jelena Ivulić, head of the Jadrolinija agency in Split, to Hina on Saturday.

According to her, even greater traffic is expected in Split’s Ferry Port over the next few weekends. This weekend, a record passenger traffic is also expected at Split’s Airport during a single weekend.
The highest weekend traffic of the year
“Today and tomorrow, around 57,000 passengers will be traveling through Split’s Airport, which is the highest weekend traffic this year, and in the next two weekends, according to announcements, we will have even greater passenger traffic,” said Mate Melvan, head of the Acceptance and Dispatch Service at Split’s Airport. The largest number of passengers arriving at Split’s Airport by plane is from the United Kingdom, followed by Germany, France, and Scandinavian countries.

“Split Airport is connected to 100 destinations in 25 countries, through which passengers from all over the world arrive by plane,” Melvan said. He added that in the first six months of this year, passenger traffic at Split’s Airport was 15.7 percent higher compared to the same period last year.
On the Makarska Riviera, more than 50 thousand guests
The peak weekend in July on the Makarska coast is marked by the expected large turnover of tourists, and according to data from tourist offices, more than 50,000 guests are vacationing on the Riviera.

The peak of the tourist summer in Makarska itself is similar to last year, with more than 13,500 guests vacationing in the city, as at the same time in 2017, although there are about 900 more tourist beds in Makarska than last year, according to Hloverka Novak Srzić, director of the Tourist Office.
More beds, same number of guests as last year
Ante Jurišić, director of the Tourist Board office in Baška Voda, also confirms that today’s number of 11,000 tourists is the same as last year, although the summer started with more than 300 new beds. The situation is similar in Brela, said Valentina Vitković, director of the Tourist Office, and this is confirmed by directors of other tourist offices who, despite new tourist beds, are recording a number of guests similar to last year.

In hotel establishments on the Makarska coast, which host more than 13,000 guests, they are satisfied with the six-month tourist results, July records good capacity occupancy, so guests are advised to make prior accommodation reservations, while for August and the post-season, hoteliers happily report excellent bookings.
Private homeowners in all places on the coast have free spots, so reservations are not necessary. At the Makarska bus station, where more than a hundred buses arrive daily, some with slight delays, buses arrive and depart mostly filled.
