What will the golf courses on Cres look like?
In Matalda, in the area of Punte Križa on the southern part of the island, two golf courses with eighteen holes each are planned, with a maximum of 800 accompanying accommodation capacities, of which at least two-thirds must be in hotels, while the remainder can be in depandances, villas, and bungalows, writes Novi list. The construction of accumulation lakes with a maximum area of 1.5 ha is permitted. At least 65 percent of the entire area must remain completely natural, i.e., undeveloped.

Also, water from the water supply can only be used for accommodation capacities, but not for the courses.
Water from Lake Vrana, which is the basis for the water supply of the Cres-Lošinj archipelago, cannot be used for irrigating the golf courses that the company Jadranka from Mali Lošinj wants to build in Matalda, in the area of Punte Križa, on the southern part of the island of Cres, so other resources – desalinated seawater – must be used for this purpose.
