Macron promised Vučić, coming to Belgrade in November

French President Emmanuel Macron has accepted the invitation of Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić to visit Belgrade, and the Serbian head of state hopes that it will be as soon as possible, reported Serbian electronic media covering Vučić’s visit to Paris today.

“We expect you with open hearts and for it to be as soon as possible,” Vučić said at a joint press conference after the meeting with the French president, where he insisted on confirmation that he would visit Serbia.

“I succeeded today, I pressured President Macron to promise me that he would come to Serbia, and not just me back to Paris. And in the end, I succeeded and I said that I would tell the Serbian public and that he should not be angry about it,” Vučić said.

“I confirmed that… I want to thank President Vučić for the invitation to visit Serbia on November 1 and I want to respect the accepted invitation,” Macron told reporters at the press conference broadcast live by Radio-Television of Serbia from Paris.

The Serbian president conveyed that Serbia expects support from France in its efforts to maintain peace and stability, jointly seeking solutions and looking to the future, not just the past.

Vučić confirmed that he received support from the French president for finding a compromise solution with Kosovo Albanians to ensure “lasting peace” in the region and create conditions for “accelerated economic progress.”
