Through Croatian Airports in May, the Most Germans, Brits, and French Passed Through

Through Croatian airports in May, a total of 1.044 million passengers passed through, which is 16.3 percent more than in the same period last year, while in the first five months of this year, 2.469 million passengers passed through the airports, 14.5 percent more, according to data from the Croatian Bureau of Statistics (DZS).

The highest passenger traffic was recorded at Split Airport with 301,377 passengers, marking an increase of 18.5 percent compared to May last year, while Zagreb Airport ranked second with 299,771 passengers, or 12.3 percent more.

Dubrovnik Airport is in third place with 289,564 passengers and has a growth of 14.8 percent compared to May last year, while Zadar Airport had 64,896 passengers, representing a growth of 6 percent, and Pula Airport is up 28.8 percent, with 61,488 passengers. Rijeka Airport had 17,033 passengers, which is 73.2 percent more than last year.

Among foreign passengers in Croatian airports in May, the most were Germans, 232,100 or 20.6 percent more compared to the same period last year. In second place were the British, with 198,813 or 4.7 percent more, and third were the French, with 77,764 arriving, or 16.4 percent more than a year ago. In fourth place were Swedish citizens, with 43,320 passengers, representing a growth of 15.2 percent.

Croatian airports in May this year also recorded an increase in cargo traffic. A total of 1,005 tons were recorded, which is an increase of 47.6 percent compared to May last year.

In total, nine airports in Croatia registered 12,725 aircraft operations in May 2018, which is an increase of 10.9 percent compared to the same month last year when there were 11,471.

From the beginning of the year until the end of May, a total of 34,567 aircraft operations were registered, which is an increase of 8.6 percent compared to last year when there were 31,837.
