Fans Gather in the Square from Morning, All Ready to Magnificently Welcome the Flames

Numerous citizens, in white-red shirts, with Croatian flags, ‘flowed’ into the center of Zagreb on Monday around noon, to welcome the silver Croatian representatives who are expected to arrive there by fan bus in the afternoon hours.

The youth of Croatia, as well as the older ones, in fan jerseys filled the city streets, packed the city buses and trams, which are free on Monday. Their goal is the Ban Jelačić Square, where the most loyal fans have been since morning and which was already full around noon. Estimates suggest that there will be around one hundred thousand fans in the Square on Monday. Along with the people of Zagreb, fans from all over Croatia, as well as from abroad, have come to Zagreb to watch the final match between Croatia and France, from which France emerged victorious, although Croatia played perhaps its best match in Russia.

Despite the defeat in the final, Croatians are unanimous: The Flames are our champions!

The ceremonial welcome of the Croatian national football team is organized by the City of Zagreb and the Association “Be Proud”, and the director of the ceremony is Krešo Dolenčić.

The Flames are expected to land in Zagreb around 2 PM, after which they will head to the center of Zagreb in an open-top bus. The open-top bus will travel the route: Rudolf Fizira Street – Zagreb Street – Federal Republic of Germany Street – Dubrovnik Avenue – Većeslav Holjevac Avenue – Freedom Bridge – Croatian Brotherhood Community Street – City of Vukovar Street – Savska Road – Roosevelt Square – Republic of Croatia Square – Frankopanska Street – Ilica – Ban Josip Jelačić Square.
