The most famous animal forecaster is the ‘meteorologist’, groundhog Phil from Punxsutawney, who has been predicting the end of winter since the late 19th century. The most famous sports forecaster was octopus Paul from Oberhausen, Germany, who from 2008 to 2010 correctly predicted 20 out of 22 forecasts, achieving a perfect score at the 2010 World Cup. This trend was continued by a donkey, llama, turtle, panda…, and it has also been adopted at the Zagreb Zoo. With a brilliant diversion, one monkey was turned into a football forecaster. Gibbon Kent has so far, if I am not mistaken, predicted Croatia’s victories against everyone except Russia by choosing a food bowl with Croatian characteristics. The conclusion? Monkeys predict. And they cheer with firecrackers.
