HTP Korčula Achieved 26% More Overnight Stays in June

The largest hotel group in Korčula, HTP Korčula d.d, recorded a 26% increase in overnight stays in June compared to the same period last year.

A total of 51,449 overnight stays were recorded in the first six months of this year, which is an increase of 6% compared to last year.

The highest number of guests, as much as 27%, come from the United Kingdom, and there is also a significant increase in arrivals from Scandinavian countries.

– Last year’s investment of 75 million kuna in Hotel Port9 has brought a significant increase in the number of guests, the number of employees, as well as very good business results already at the beginning of this season. We continue with further investments, and for 2019 we plan to arrange the beach in front of the hotel, said Ivana Hatvalić, CEO of HTP Korčula.

In June 2018, 59,225 overnight stays were achieved in the town of Korčula, which is an increase of 22% compared to June 2017. During the first six months of 2018, 92,162 overnight stays were achieved, which is 11% more than last year. The highest number of overnight stays was recorded by guests from the United Kingdom, the United States, Germany, Croatia, and France.

A New Boat in the HTP Korčula Fleet

To encourage the revival of tradition and provide additional amenities for guests, HTP Korčula organized a Small Shipbuilding School for ten young Korčulans in the upper grades of elementary school. As part of the StolArt workshop, under the expert guidance of Davor Mihalić, the children manually built and launched a Korčula fishing boat into the sea.

Along with mathematics and design, they learned about the parts of the boat and used all tools – from jigsaws to grinders. After assembling the final structure, the children painted the boat, set the masts, mounted the ropes, and it was ready for launching.

This is already the third boat in the HTP Korčula fleet that was manually made by children in the Small Shipbuilding School, which will continue to sail the Korčula archipelago to the delight of the ever-increasing number of guests.
