Zlatko Dalić declared honorary citizen of Varaždin County

At the session of the Varaždin County Assembly on Wednesday, July 11, the councilors unanimously made a decision on the recipients of public awards of Varaždin County for the year 2018.

Zlatko Dalić, the coach of the Croatian national football team, was declared an honorary citizen of the County for his work and engagement in sports, significantly contributing to the promotion of Varaždin County.

The councilors of the County Assembly and County Prefect Radimir Čačić with associates sent a message of support to Dalić and the representatives ahead of tonight’s semi-final match of the World Cup between Croatia and England.

Other public awards were also presented. The Lifetime Achievement Award was given to Jagoda Kralj Novak, a theater, film, and television actress who began her acting career in the Varaždin theater. She has acted in numerous theater productions as well as well-known Croatian films and TV dramas. For her work, she has received numerous awards, and the pinnacle of her professional acting career was the awarding of the status of National Champion of Drama in 2015.

The award for exceptional achievements in the past year was given to the Varaždin Music School, one of the oldest music schools in this part of Europe, which celebrates 190 years of existence this year. It is one of the most important music and educational institutions in Croatia.

Awards for contributions to the reputation and promotion of Varaždin County in the country and the world were awarded to the Varaždin Crafts Music Society, which celebrates its 80th anniversary in 2018, the DVD Visoko, which marked 125 years of existence, and Lidija Horvat Dunjko, a renowned soprano and opera diva.
