ZAGREB – Continuation of the eighth session of the Croatian Parliament (9:30 AM, St. Mark’s Square 6).

ZAGREB – Final conference and presentation of the results of the project “Collection and Monitoring of Baseline Data for the Effective Implementation of the National Strategy for the Inclusion of Roma,” which included data obtained from a survey of 1,550 Roma households and interviews and focus groups across Croatia. The project was designed with the aim of comprehensive and effective realization of human rights and improving and facilitating the active and full participation of the Roma national minority in the economic, cultural, and social life of Croatian society, while preserving their own identity, culture, and tradition, and is being implemented by Ecorys Croatia and the Center for Peace Studies. The research was published in a peer-reviewed publication “Inclusion of Roma in Croatian Society: Baseline Data Research” which will be presented for the first time at this conference (10 AM, Hotel International, Miramarska cesta 24).

ZAGREB – On the occasion of the 162nd anniversary of Nikola Tesla’s birth and the 5th Nikola Tesla Day – a day of science, technology, and innovation, a conference “Tesla in Zagreb” will be held on the topic “Sustainable Waste Management for a Clean Environment.” The goal of the conference is to educate the interested public about available waste management technologies and to connect manufacturers of waste technologies and waste processors with municipal companies dealing with waste (10 AM, Large Hall of the Zagreb Chamber, 1st floor, Draškovićeva 45).

ZAGREB – Final conference of the Ruđer Bošković Institute and the Knowledge Network and the closure of the project “Strengthening the Knowledge Management and Commercialization System of Research at the Ruđer Bošković Institute,” funded by the European Union and the Republic of Croatia, in the amount of 440 thousand euros. The project redefined the organization and management model of the knowledge transfer system and commercialization of research results of the Ruđer Bošković Institute, proposed new cooperation models with the economy in accordance with best practices, and conducted training for employees of the Ruđer Bošković Institute and key stakeholders (10 AM, House of Europe, European Commission Representation in Croatia, Augusta Cesarca 4).

ZAGREB – Producer prices in the industry in Croatia increased by 3.5 percent in June compared to the same month last year, marking the 18th consecutive month of annual growth, according to data from the Croatian Bureau of Statistics. Official statistics show that producer prices of industrial products in June decreased by 0.1 percent on a monthly basis compared to May. On a monthly basis, prices in the domestic market for industry were lower by 0.1 percent, while in the foreign market they were lower by 0.2 percent. On an annual basis, however, prices in the domestic market increased by 3.4 percent, and in the foreign market by 3.6 percent. Excluding energy prices, producer prices in the industry in June were lower by 0.3 percent compared to May, while they were higher by 0.1 percent compared to June of last year.

ZAGREB – Croatia reduced the catch and farming of marine fish and other marine organisms last year by two percent compared to the previous year, and the number of fishermen in marine fisheries decreased by 15.2 percent and the number of vessels by 2.4 percent, according to data from the Croatian Bureau of Statistics. In 2017, the total number of fishermen in marine fisheries decreased by 15.2 percent to 6,565, and the number of fishermen engaged in commercial fishing in marine fisheries decreased by 37 percent to 3,179. The total catch and farming of marine fish and other marine organisms last year fell by two percent compared to the previous year, to 83,318 tons.
