Split-Dalmatia County Allocates 7 Million Kuna for Beach Development

The Split-Dalmatian County Prefect Blaženko Boban today signed contracts worth seven million kuna with the leaders of Split, Omiš, Podstrana, and Tučepi for co-financing the construction of beaches.

The projects include the development of the Žnjan plateau, the Omiš Brzet beach, and the coastal areas of Podstrana and Tučepi. As explained by Prefect Boban, the funds were allocated based on the submitted project documentation.

Tučepi received one million kuna for the development of the coastal strip from the Marina to the Gospin stream, the same amount as Omiš for the Brzet beach, while Split will use two million kuna to develop the Žnjan plateau. Podstrana received the most, three million kuna, for the development of the coast from the mouth of the Žrnovnica River to the Strožanac sports port.

Prefect Boban stated that these projects are important for the Split-Dalmatian County and that their goal is to improve the quality of life, increase tourist offerings, and extend the tourist season.

“A richer tourist offer will attract tourists before and after the season, when, thanks to more pleasant temperatures and fewer crowds, they will be able to enjoy the diverse offerings more fully and qualitatively. The realization of these projects will significantly contribute to the quality of life for the local population, and besides cleaner seas, more attractive promenades, and numerous amenities, conditions will be created for more active tourism activities. Everyone in the County will benefit from these projects, which will also impact the overall communal standard and the quality of the tourist season,” emphasized Prefect Boban.

He mentioned that only Split, Omiš, Podstrana, and Tučepi applied for the tender, having put in a lot of effort in preparing the documentation, and called on other local communities to participate.
