Škibola: 3. maj brought to a deadlock by poor management actions

Independent Member of Parliament Marin Škibola stated on Monday at a press conference in Rijeka that the Rijeka 3. maj has been brought to a deadlock by poor management actions and that the only solution is the arrival of a new owner.

The shipyard needs to rationalize its operations as debts to suppliers and contractors are enormous, and until now, insufficient investment has been made in infrastructure and equipment. The salaries of the management board members are exceptionally high, while those of the workers are too low, which demotivates the workers, Škibola stated.

He was joined at the press conference by independent Rijeka city councilor Marinko Koljanin, whom Škibola claimed is the only truly independent councilor who, by submitting an amendment to the proposal of the City Budget for 2018, which was subsequently accepted, contributed significantly to the community and citizens by allocating two million kuna for the renovation of part of KBC Rijeka.

Koljanin reflected on the approved guarantee for a loan for the construction of a new Rijeka hospital, asserting that this is a historic moment for Rijeka. However, he noted that this could have been done long ago if party interests had not prevailed over the interests of the citizens. The HDZ government generally turns to Rijeka only when it realizes projects in municipalities and cities where it is in power, while on the other hand, all important projects for Rijeka and Croatia in this region have been initiated by the HDZ, while SDP ministers and parliamentary representatives from this area have not acted sufficiently for this region, Koljanin said.
