50 million kuna is being invested in schools in PGŽ this year

Approximately 50 million kuna is being invested in schools in the Primorsko-Goranska County this year, of which about 17 million is for capital investments and around 34 million kuna for the energy renovation of school buildings, reported Edita Stilin, the head of education and upbringing, at a regular press conference at the county administration on Monday.

Among the larger capital projects, the completion of the reconstruction of the school and gym in Punt is expected soon, along with the extension of the school in Čavli and Hreljin.

Next year, the reconstruction and extension of the Jelenje-Dražice Primary School will begin, which currently operates in two buildings, but will in the future be located only in Dražice. The school’s capacity will increase from the current 10 to 21 classrooms. The estimated value of the works is 33.5 million kuna, with the county financing 60 percent through a loan, while the remaining funds will be provided by the Municipality of Jelenje – Dražice. The works are expected to last 2.5 years, and during this time, 374 students from that school will attend classes in Jelenje.

The construction of a new primary school in Marinići, a new gym in the Rijeka Secondary Medical School, the reconstruction of the primary school in Rab, and other works at a total of about 50 construction sites are planned.

Stilin reported, emphasizing that these are not final data, that a total of 2391 students have registered for enrollment in the first grades of primary schools in Primorsko-Goranska County, which is 49 fewer first graders than last year.

The President of the County Assembly, Erik Fabijanić, announced a new session for July 12, during which investments in the Dražice – Jelenje school, the development of the Platak sports and recreation center, concessions, the expansion of the Rab hospital, and other topics will be discussed.

Fabijanić stated that a response has arrived regarding the question from the last county session about the authors of the lex LNG, i.e., the Law on the Liquefied Natural Gas Terminal. He said that the law was drafted by a working group led by Domagoj Validžić, with members including Zvonimir Novak, Robert Blažinović, Milan Rezo, Snježana Đurišić, Barbara Dorić, Nina Perko, and Igor Vuković.

Fabijanić emphasized that it is significant that Barbara Dorić, who was in the working group while she was the president of the Management Board of the Hydrocarbon Agency, is now the director of LNG Croatia, adding that “enough is enough for the wise.”
