Unions at Croatia Airlines Postpone Strike After Meeting with Prime Minister

The ORCA Union (Workers’ Organization of Croatia Airlines) and the Croatian Union of Air Traffic Pilots (HSPP) on Friday afternoon, after a meeting with Prime Minister Andrej Plenković, postponed the start of the strike scheduled for Monday, in order to ensure the necessary conditions for concluding the collective agreement within a reasonable timeframe.

The ORCA Union stated in a press release that a meeting was held with Prime Minister Plenković, during which they presented all the issues facing Croatia Airlines and their view of the current situation.

The union stated that the Prime Minister, considering the information he received from them, expressed readiness to ensure all necessary conditions for concluding the collective agreement.

“Given the guarantees received at today’s meeting, ORCA is postponing the start of the announced strike so that the mentioned conditions can be achieved within a reasonable timeframe,” the statement reads.

This information was also confirmed to Hina by the HSPP, stating that the Prime Minister played a significant role in this matter.

The ORCA Union also reported that the County Court in Zagreb, at today’s hearing regarding the lawsuit against Croatia Airlines, did not determine the strike to be illegal, and that despite the employer’s lawsuit, all conditions for the start of the strike were met in accordance with the announcement made on July 9 at 6 AM.

The unions announced a strike to the management of the national air carrier on Tuesday due to the rejection of their proposed collective agreement.
