Open Applications for the Leading Global Event for Innovations in Sustainable Energy

The Croatian startup Visiobike, which won second place at the national final of the PowerUp competition organized by Invento Capital Partners, will participate in the sixth The Business Booster (TBB), a European catalyst for innovations in cleantech, organized by InnoEnergy, the largest European innovation driver in the field of sustainable energy.

TBB will take place in Copenhagen on October 17 and 18, 2018, with the theme ‘The Future is Now’, and the organizer expects to showcase 150 of the latest innovations in sustainable energy, which will also be exhibited at a supporting exhibition, with more than 700 participants from over 30 countries expected to attend. In addition to the award-winning Visiobike, other Croatian startups working in the sustainable energy sector can also participate, with applications open until July 31 at: tbb.innoenergy.com.

Marko Matenda, founder of Visiobike, stated that the Business Booster is a unique opportunity for the startup to present its advanced technological solutions in the field of battery packs and electric bicycles and to connect with leading companies in the field of sustainable energy and establish new collaborations.

According to Elena Bou, Director of Innovation at InnoEnergy, the Business Booster is the only event that brings together the most innovative startups from across Europe, renowned industry players, investors, and public sector institutions, with the aim of accelerating the European transition to clean energy. In addition to pitching startups, visitors can attend round tables and product demonstrations.

For the first time, InnoEnergy is organizing ‘reverse pitching’. In the first part, leading industry experts will present the latest innovations and show how their companies have made breakthroughs in the fields of storage, transport, wind energy, and smart cities. On the other hand, companies from the energy sector will approach entrepreneurs from InnoEnergy’s portfolio in search of energy sustainable solutions.

Among this year’s exhibitors is the Swedish company Northvolt, which is building the largest lithium-ion battery factory in Europe, Betterspace from Germany, which develops components that enable automatic control of heating in non-residential buildings. The Swedish company Watty will present a tool for energy data analytics that monitors the energy consumption of every electrical appliance in households with just one sensor, in order to save money and energy. The French company DCbrain has developed a big data solution for optimizing and maintaining complex industrial networks, while Skeleton Technologies from Estonia is developing high-performance energy storage solutions based on breakthrough graphene material.

The participation of some speakers has already been confirmed, including the keynote speaker Dr. Daniel M. Kammen, a professor of energy at the University of California, Berkeley, and the lead author of various reports from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, which received the Nobel Peace Prize in 2007. Additionally, the panel discussions will feature scientist Robert Rosner, founder of the Energy Policy Institute at the University of Chicago, as well as experts Lars Aagaard, CEO of the Danish Energy Association, and Michael Sen, a member of the Siemens Supervisory Board.
