Huawei Upgrades Mobile Graphics Chips – Will Be 60 Percent More Efficient

Mobile gaming enthusiasts will no longer have to purchase a new smartphone model to download the latest games because the ‘older’ one is too weak and slow. It may sound incredible, but Huawei has a solution to turn this idea into reality.

To enjoy games without interruption, a graphics chip (GPU) is required, and the new software update that Huawei is preparing will increase GPU efficiency by 60 percent and reduce battery consumption by 30 percent. The price? Free, for all Huawei smartphone owners, reports Digital Trends.

A feature called GPU Turbo enhances the graphics processor’s capability even on mid-range phones, allowing their owners to run more complex mobile games and enjoy all HDR+ visual effects. Huawei even believes that some models with weaker processors will be able to outperform those with stronger ones. Additionally, GPU Turbo will support virtual and augmented reality applications, likely even if they are specifically coded for compatible devices.

It is important to note that the update is free, and from August, owners of the P20, P20 Pro, Mate 10, Mate 10 Pro, and Mate RS models will be able to enjoy it, while those who own the P20 Lite, Mate 9, Mate 9 Pro, P10, and P10 Plus will join them in September.

However, the announced software update dates often change at the last minute, so it is more likely that the first users will receive the update on August 31, rather than at the beginning of the month.
