Iranian Prime Minister on US Withdrawal from Nuclear Agreement: Trump Lacks Mental Capacity

The President of the Iranian Parliament, Ali Larijani, stated that Donald Trump’s decision to withdraw from the international nuclear agreement is a violation of the accord that will isolate the US, as reported by state television on Wednesday.

– Trump’s abandonment of the nuclear agreement is a diplomatic show. Iran is not obliged to fulfill its commitments in the current situation. This is a threat to peace and security. I am not sure whether the European signatories of the agreement will fulfill their promises, said Larijani.

– It is clear that Trump understands only the language of force, he emphasized, adding that the American president is not capable of holding that office. Trump lacks the mental capacity to deal with this problem, Larijani pointed out.

At the beginning of the parliamentary session, representatives burned the American flag and a copy of the agreement, shouting ‘Death to America’.

On Tuesday, Trump withdrew the US from the agreement, thereby increasing the risk of conflict in the Middle East, unsettling European allies, and introducing uncertainty into the global oil supply.

He announced that the United States is withdrawing from the international nuclear agreement to prevent Iran from developing a nuclear bomb and that economic sanctions on Tehran will be reimposed immediately.

Fifteen months after taking office, the 45th American president decided, as he promised during his campaign, to exit the agreement that his Democratic predecessor Barack Obama concluded in 2015 after 21 months of arduous negotiations.

– I am announcing today that the United States will withdraw from the Iranian nuclear agreement, Trump stated in a televised address from the White House on Tuesday.

– It was a terrible one-sided agreement that should never, ever have been signed, Trump said in his speech from the White House, emphasizing that the agreement “did not bring tranquility. It did not bring peace. Never and it will not.”

– We will establish the highest level of economic sanctions, Trump announced in his address.

The United Nations, the European Union, and the signatories of the nuclear agreement with Iran, as well as regional leaders, expressed regret and concern on Tuesday evening over the American decision to withdraw, but it pleased Israel and Saudi Arabia.

European Union Remains Committed to the Agreement with Iran

The European Union will adhere to the nuclear agreement with Iran despite the American decision to withdraw from it and will ensure that European sanctions against Tehran, which were lifted in 2015, do not return.

“As long as Iran continues to implement its obligations related to the nuclear issue, the EU will remain committed to the full and effective implementation of the nuclear agreement,” emphasized the 28 EU governments in a joint statement.

“The lifting of sanctions related to nuclear weapons is a key part of the agreement… The EU reiterates its commitment to ensuring that this continues to be implemented,” the statement adds.
