Today in Croatia: Leader’s Conference on Public Enterprise Management

We announce the most important events in Croatia for Tuesday, May 8:

ZAGREB – The President of the Constitutional Court Miroslav Šeparović will announce the decision on the assessment of compliance with the Constitution of the Law on the Procedure of Extraordinary Administration in Companies of Systemic Importance for the Republic of Croatia at a press conference (11 AM, courtroom of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Croatia, Trg sv. Marka 4).

GRUBIŠNO POLJE – The President of the Croatian Parliament Gordan Jandroković will visit Grubišno Polje where a tour of the construction site of the biomass cogeneration plant of Energostatik d.o.o. is planned, along with a statement for the press (2:20 PM, Poduzetnička bb, Industrial Zone). After that, Jandroković will visit the Memorial Room of the Homeland War.

SPLIT – The Minister of Labor and Pension System Marko Pavić will open a new space for the Regional Office of the Institute for Expertise, Professional Rehabilitation, and Employment of Persons with Disabilities in Split. Along with Minister Pavić, the Mayor of Split Andro Krstulović Opara will also ceremonially open the premises (10 AM, Ulica Ruđera Boškovića 28-30). At the new location, the Institute will have over a thousand square meters of space adapted to the needs of persons with disabilities. Representatives of associations of persons with disabilities will also attend the opening.

ZAGREB – For the first time in Zagreb, a march titled “Immortal Partisan Detachment” will be held, dedicated to the victory of the anti-fascist coalition in World War II. Participants will gather between 10:30 and 11:00 AM at the Square of Victims of Fascism, concluding at 1:00 PM at the Republic Square (formerly Marshal Tito Square). The organizers of the march are the Association of Anti-Fascist Fighters and Anti-Fascists of the Republic of Croatia and the Coordinating Council of Associations of Russian Compatriots in the Republic of Croatia.

ZAGREB – The Honorary Bleiburg Water Association will report at a press conference on the holding of the Central Commemoration at Bleiburg Field in Austria. The religious (church) and state protocol for this year’s commemoration will be presented, along with news regarding the organization of the gathering at Bleiburg Field following recommendations from the Diocese of Carinthia and the Austrian authorities (10 AM, premises of the Croatian Journalists’ Association, Perkovčeva 2).

ZAGREB – The continuation of the crisis in Agrokor is the topic of a press conference to be held by Ivo Jelušić, a member of the Presidency of the SDP, and Saša Đujić, a member of the Parliament from the SDP (11 AM, SDP headquarters, Iblerov trg 9).

ZAGREB – A public forum titled “These Are Not Just Women’s Issues” will be held on the occasion of World Ovarian Cancer Day to raise awareness about the fight against this malignant disease. The forum is organized by the Association of Women Affected by and Treated for Cancer SVE for HER together with the Association of Health and Medical Journalists of the Croatian Journalists’ Association, with the support of professional societies of the Croatian Medical Association (11 AM, Croatian Journalists’ House).

SISAK – The unveiling and blessing of the monument to Blessed Alojzije Stepinac in front of the Sisak Cathedral, on the occasion of the 120th anniversary of the blessed one’s birth and the 20th anniversary of his beatification. The ceremony begins at 5:30 PM with the unveiling of the newly installed statue, followed by a solemn mass at 6 PM in the cathedral, led by the Bishop of Sisak Vlado Košić. After the mass, a lecture on the Croatian blessed will be held by the postulator of the cause for the canonization of Blessed Alojzije Stepinac, Mons. Juraj Batelja.

ZAGREB – The business weekly Lider will organize the 2nd conference “State-Owned, but Efficient – What Kind of Enterprises Do We Need?” The aim of the gathering is to highlight the weaknesses of management practices in public enterprises and their consequences on business, as well as to promote sustainable privatization models of excessive public assets and non-business real estate portfolios. The Minister of State Property Goran Marić will speak about the obstacles and challenges of managing state property, as announced (10 AM, Hotel Westin, Kršnjavoga 1).
