Komadina: There Are Not Too Many Frictions in SDP, But Individuals Who Create News

The Vice President of SDP and President of the Primorje-Gorski Kotar County Organization of the Party, Zlatko Komadina, stated on Tuesday that, contrary to claims made by some media, there are not too many frictions in SDP, but rather “individuals who create news, and the media transmits them”.

– However, this is good because dust is raised behind a good horse, Komadina told reporters in Rijeka when asked how he comments on the decisions from Sunday’s meeting of the SDP Main Board, which accepted the electoral rules for the June elections for party organizations in the counties and the City of Zagreb.

Namely, the divisions in the party were caused by the amendment of Arsen Bauk that party officials who are called to meetings of party bodies from local to state level, and who did not respond to at least 50 percent of the meetings, will not be able to run for leadership positions in county organizations.

Komadina emphasized that the electoral rules are in effect from today, as adopted by the Main Board, and that only this party body can interpret them, reiterating the stance that everyone in the party must run under equal conditions.

Only, after everything that has happened, it can be misinterpreted that I do not speak affirmatively, in favor of SDP, for the elections to be held, and not to be not held”.

When asked whether a meeting of the SDP Presidency on the topic of electoral rules should have been held today, Komadina replied that the Presidency will meet after the meetings of the county boards, specifically for those organizations that request either a postponement of the elections or are unable to announce them, and the Presidency will do that for them.

As justified reasons for a possible postponement of the elections, he cited the example of Split-Dalmatia County, where district elections are being held, making it difficult to simultaneously organize party elections. He also announced that he will do everything to ensure that the internal party elections in Rijeka and Primorje-Gorski Kotar County are held on June 16.

He did not want to comment on the announcements of the Vice President of the SDP parliamentary club, Gordan Maras, that he would resign from that position due to dissatisfaction with Bauk’s amendment, but he asked his party colleagues “not to prejudge something that has happened or will happen”.

He does not believe that Bauk proposed this amendment to prevent Ranka Ostojić from running for the leadership position of the Split-Dalmatia SDP, given that the amendment “applies pro futuro”.

– It is fine to attend meetings of bodies if the body exists, he said and added that even parliamentary representatives, who are often criticized for not being in the parliament, cannot be in two places at once.

– If they are not at some party body, that is often justified, and here we are talking about unjustified absences, he conveyed.

No changes in SDP are needed, everyone did their job

Reporters were also interested in whether, due to the “disorder” in the party, the President of the Main Board, Erik Fabijanić, and Bauk from the position of President of the parliamentary club should be dismissed, to which Komadina replied that no changes are needed, as everyone did their job.

– The other thing is that some wish for someone, because they are doing their job, to be held accountable. Those who behave like that would be wiser to have been present at the meeting of the Main Board and said it there, he said.
