Do you have a great idea? Submit it to Moj Zaba Start and secure funding for its realization

All interested parties can submit their ideas or projects in three different areas – entrepreneurship, culture and science, and society. Zaba will distribute nearly one million kuna for the ten best projects.

“What drives the world is not locomotives, but ideas,” said the French writer Victor Hugo once, but an idea will not go far if there is no locomotive to help it fully realize at the right moment. The Moj Zaba Start project is a locomotive that has been pulling and supporting good ideas in Croatia for five years. It is a socially responsible project through which Zagrebačka banka brings together everything Croatia has in the fields of entrepreneurship and new technologies, culture and science, and socially beneficial community work.

In these three categories, all interested parties can apply in this year’s edition of the project. As in previous years, those who submit and defend the best idea have the opportunity to win a non-repayable grant of 120,000 kuna in each category. The second position carries a slightly smaller prize – 100,000 kuna, while the third place can win support of 80,000 kuna. The decision on the winner is made by a professional committee, but it is important to note that in each category there is also a special audience award – worth 30,000 kuna, so the total fund available to Moj Zaba Start rises to nearly one million kuna!

Moj Zaba Start was launched in 2013 and has so far supported a total of 40 best projects. Some of them have since grown from an idea into a real positive entrepreneurial story.

One of the first participants in the Moj Zaba Start project was Studio Grupa with the ILI ILI lamp project.

– The support we received for the ili_ili lamps allowed us to commercialize our product and prepare it for serial production. Today we produce large series of products, mostly for export, and our market is mainly Scandinavian countries. Zaba’s support came when we needed it most, at the very start when it was necessary for someone to recognize us and give us that initial “push”. I would definitely recommend those with an idea to apply for the competition. It might just be the turning point in their future development, said designer Filip Despot.

In that 2013, the award in the competition that connected craftsmen and designers was also won by the Kabanica kaplja project designed by Ana Rimac. Today, these raincoats inspired by the six-pointed motif are produced by the well-known Zagreb craft Cerovečki.

– Our raincoat won the award in the first edition of the Moj Zaba Start project. Of course, the financial support was welcome, but even more important for us were the spotlights we attracted. The project provided us with free promotion, as well as professional education and the opportunity to connect with other project participants. This proved to be extremely important and useful in our work, emphasized Ana Rimac.
