Research by Italian archaeologists has shown that there are no hidden chambers in Tutankhamun’s tomb, Egypt’s antiquities minister announced on Sunday.
“Radar scans of the tomb confirmed that there are no chambers, doors, or stairs,” said Mostafa Waziri.
This refutes the theory that there are passages or rooms within or adjacent to Tutankhamun’s tomb, he added.

British Egyptologist Nicholas Reeves previously stated that detailed photographs and scans of the northern wall of the tomb suggest the existence of an opening to a new chamber.
Reeves suggested that it could be the tomb of Queen Nefertiti, the wife of Tutankhamun’s father, Pharaoh Akhenaten.
Tutankhamun was one of the last kings of the 18th dynasty. He died at the age of 19 under unexplained circumstances.

His tomb, discovered in 1922, is a unique find among pharaonic tombs in the Valley of the Kings in Luxor due to the abundance of luxury items found within.
Unlike most other tombs, Tutankhamun’s tomb was not looted.
