As things stand now, pilots, flight attendants, and aircraft mechanics of Croatia Airlines could go on strike at the beginning of the tourist season if the mediation process with the Management regarding the collective agreement, which expired 17 months ago, fails. Given that the situation around the negotiations is not optimistic, the question is what will happen with this airline. It is very possible that the government of Prime Minister Andrej Plenković has decided to make another attempt to find a strategic partner, as stated in the National Reform Program 2018. However, the president of the Flight Attendants Union, Suzana Artuković Vuksan, believes that this is not a good idea.

– If we look at companies in the region, no sale has brought benefits for workers, and the benefit for the company is questionable. We believe that this company, with capable management and not solely politically suitable management, has a chance to survive in the market and fight for its place in the environment. Especially considering tourism and the potentials it carries, which a large part of the Croatian economy relies on anyway. We are already exhausted from trying to solve problems internally with such management. The appointed management does not have the same interests as the workers; they look exclusively at their own benefit, which is often at the expense of the company and the workers. Their moves reflect this. The government does not deal with this at all, except for appointing its personnel who ultimately never answer for the results and the state of the company. Now they are also talking about a sale. That is the easiest way. They no longer want to deal with it. Until now, only destruction has occurred, so for them, the best solution is to get rid of it through a sale – says Artuković Vuksan.
