A toxic liquid that spilled last week from the landfill of the soda factory near Lukavac, not far from Tuzla, flowed into the Bosna River near Doboj on Tuesday, leaving behind pollution and a fish kill, and is expected to flow into the Sava River on Wednesday morning.
As confirmed to the media in Bosnia and Herzegovina by Željko Stojanović, spokesperson for the Republic Administration of Civil Protection of the Republic of Srpska, the stain with the toxic liquid spread from the Spreča River to the Bosna, contaminating the area in Kotorsko and Majevac, downstream from Doboj. According to the same source, dead fish were observed on the surface of the Bosna River.

He explained that the toxic liquid moves much faster in the Bosna because this river has a higher flow rate, so it is expected that the contaminated liquid will reach Modriča around midnight, and by Wednesday morning it will flow into the Sava River.
Large quantities of toxic liquid spilled into the Spreča River on Friday from the landfill of the soda factory near Lukavac, not far from Tuzla. After the dam at the landfill of the “Sisecam Soda” factory broke, a basic liquid (pH 12) spilled, contaminating the local Spreča River and surrounding land.
