Bauk: The Living Wall Skillfully Hides Flaws, Presents ‘Very Dangerous Ideas’

The president of the SDP parliamentary club in the Croatian Parliament, Arsen Bauk, stated on Tuesday in Split that the Living Wall is a group of sympathetic politicians with “very dangerous ideas” and “unfathomable consequences for the state and society.”

“It is a group of sympathetic politicians with very dangerous ideas that I would call adventurism, and in the second part, conformism. Adventurism is when quite seductive ideas are presented with unfathomable consequences for the state and society, such as leaving the European Union (EU) and NATO and greater connections with Russia and China,” Bauk told reporters in Split, where he attended a political gathering organized by the Split SDP and Nova Ljevica on the occasion of International Labor Day, May 1, at Peristil.

He made this statement in response to a journalist’s question about his comments on the recent first party congress of the Living Wall.

Regarding the conformism of the Living Wall, Bauk emphasized that it is “a striking avoidance of topics that are labeled as ideological in society, while in fact, they concern fundamental human rights.”

“They escaped the vote on the Istanbul Convention, they do not express themselves on issues of discrimination based on religion and nationality, we can or cannot hear anything from them about their stance on antifascism, minority rights, the LGBT community, and women’s right to abortion by choice,” said Bauk.

Representatives of the Living Wall skillfully conceal their flaws, he assessed.

“So far, I would say they have skillfully shown some virtues but even more skillfully hidden many flaws that people have not yet noticed, and I think that as time goes on, those flaws and insufficiently thought-out solutions will come to light,” said Bauk. He added that in response to questions about their solutions, representatives of the Living Wall “interrupt the conversation, flee the hall, or simply change the subject.”
