Reiner: Trade exchange between Croatia and South Korea increased by 252 percent

Deputy Speaker of the Croatian Parliament Željko Reiner stated on Monday, during his visit to South Korea, that he hopes for the soon opening of the Croatian embassy in Seoul, which would facilitate the connection of business communities and accelerate communication between the two countries, which are already experiencing a rapid increase in trade exchange even without it.

The trade exchange between Croatia and Korea increased by as much as 252 percent last year compared to 2016, Reiner said at a meeting with his host, the Vice President of the South Korean Parliament Park Joo-sun, as stated in the parliamentary press release.

The problem is the huge deficit on the Croatian side, but Rainer sees further improvement in economic relations through Korean investments in key Croatian projects, especially in the areas of transport, infrastructure, and energy.

He also stated that the Croatian government is making significant efforts to improve the investment climate by simplifying the legislative framework and removing administrative barriers.

Reiner and Park agree that the bilateral relations between the two countries are excellent, and the South Korean emphasized that Korean tourists recognize the Republic of Croatia as one of the more desirable tourist destinations, as well as a country that is becoming increasingly interesting to investors for further investments.

The two officials also discussed the historic summit of the leaders of the two Koreas on Friday in the demilitarized zone at their borders, the statement adds.
