The Minister for Demography, Family, Youth and Social Policy, Nada Murganić, stated on Thursday that the new Family Law will be sent for public consultation in May.
– The Family Law is in development; we promised that it would be sent for public consultation in May, Murganić told reporters ahead of the Government session.

Regarding the Social Welfare Act, she said it will be developed targeting groups exposed to an increased risk of poverty, such as children, the elderly, and persons with disabilities.
Their goal, she said, is to ensure that social benefits are available to all citizens as well as social services. It is not the same to be a poor elderly person in large cities where social programs provide additional resources compared to what the state offers to individuals in worse social conditions or, which is more difficult, in rural areas where various forms of services, such as home assistance or help for the elderly in obtaining firewood, are not available.
According to the minister, the consultation currently includes amendments to the Child Allowance Act aimed at increasing the number of children and families eligible for child allowance, as well as the pronatal bonus, while continuing with measures already adopted, such as maternity and parental benefits and subsidizing loans.
