One of the leading world scientists in glycan research, Professor Gordan Lauc, asserted the direct link between stress and human health. The biological consequences of stress are very significant. People who are under stress and feel threatened exhaust all their energy from the immune, digestive, and reproductive systems, and as a result, they become ill, said Professor Lauc while guesting on HRT’s show ‘In His Film’ on Tuesday evening.
Lauc, who conducts research at the renowned Zagreb laboratory Genos, stated that most people after the age of 40 have some kind of tumor, whether benign or malignant. He also noted that no one will die at 90 without a tumor, which is essentially a chronic disease that needs to be managed.

Since he teaches at the University of Zagreb, in London, and Edinburgh, he also reflected on the educational system. He believes that the problem with our system is that it does not know how to recognize and support the best, unlike top world faculties that value such individuals and provide them with full support.
– In Croatia, such people are blocked and isolated because the system is designed to do as little work as possible. It is hard to expect a reform of such a system, he emphasized, adding that new faculties or centers of excellence should be established.
By the way, the research laboratory Genos has so far utilized a record 7 million euros in non-repayable EU funds for research, and a few years ago, it was declared the best place to work in the world of science in a survey among 250 scientific institutions.
