Jandroković in Stockholm Discussed Urban Sustainable Development

The first working day of the two-day return visit to Sweden by the President of the Croatian Parliament, Gordan Jandroković, concluded with discussions with the Mayor of Stockholm, Eva-Louise Erlandsson Slorach, and the Minister for Migration, Heléna Fritzon. The development projects of the Swedish capital in the field of sustainable urban development, in which Stockholm has significant experience and great results, were the topic of conversation between Jandroković and the Mayor, and they also considered possibilities for cooperation with Zagreb. For this purpose, Erlandsson Slorach was invited to visit Zagreb and Croatia, as stated in the press release from the Parliamentary Media Service.

About Hammarby Sjostad, a part of the Swedish capital Stockholm, Erik Freudenthal from Smart City Sweden spoke at last week’s 4th Lider Conference Smart Cities 2018. A new residential neighborhood with smart city infrastructure has been built through public and private partnership, Freudenthal said, and materials that are not harmful to the environment were used. Water is purified and efforts are made to reduce its consumption, biogas and agricultural fertilizer are obtained from water, and citizens are encouraged to use public transport instead of cars. Waste is separated into containers, after which it is vacuumed through underground pipelines.

The visit to Sweden is taking place at the invitation of the President of the Riksdag, Urban Ahlin. The Croatian delegation also includes representatives Ines Strenja-Linić, Dragica Roščić, and Ante Babić.
