In March, 325 Thousand Blocked, Half Owed to Telecom Operators

At the end of March this year, accounts of 325.25 thousand citizens were blocked, with total debts of nearly 43.4 billion kuna, and accounts of just under 24 thousand business entities were also blocked, with debts amounting to 12.8 billion kuna, according to data from the Financial Agency (Fina).

At the end of March, 325,254 citizens were in blockade, and their debt amounted to 43.37 billion kuna.

Fina’s data shows that the number of citizens with blocked accounts increased on a monthly basis, while it decreased on an annual basis, while the amount of their debt continues to grow.

Thus, there were 539 or about 0.2 percent more citizens with blocked accounts than in February, and on a monthly basis, their debt increased by 240 million kuna or by 0.6 percent.

On an annual basis, the number of citizens with blocked accounts decreased by 1.7 percent, but the amount of debt increased by 3.3 percent. Namely, at the end of March this year, there were 5,508 fewer citizens with blocked accounts than at the end of March last year, but the amount of citizens’ debts increased by 1.3 billion kuna.

According to Fina’s data for March this year, the largest number of citizens owes telecom operators, with just under 160 thousand.

The largest part of citizens’ debt – 17.9 billion kuna relates to debts to banks, and according to the entire financial sector (including banks and savings banks, credit unions, insurance companies, leasing, factoring…) the debt at the end of March amounted to 21 billion kuna, which is almost half (48.5 percent) of the total debts of citizens, Fina notes.

They also report that the share of citizens whose debt exceeds one million kuna at the end of March was 1.5 percent, and they account for more than half of the debt – 51.4 percent or 22.3 billion kuna.

The trend of decreasing the number and amount of debts among business entities continues

At the end of March this year, 23,999 business entities were blocked, and the total value of their unpaid payment bases amounted to 12.83 billion kuna.

On a monthly basis, the number of blocked business entities slightly decreased, by 33 or 0.1 percent, while their debt decreased by 5.9 percent or by just over 800 million kuna.

On an annual basis, the decrease is more significant as at the end of March this year, there were 4,789 or 16.6 percent fewer business entities in blockade than at the end of March last year, and the amount of their debt decreased by 4.55 billion kuna or by 26.2 percent.

Fina’s data for March this year shows that among the blocked business entities, those in long-term blockade, longer than 360 days, continue to dominate, both in number and in the amount of blockade.

At the end of March, there were 16,148 such business entities, which is a share of 67.3 percent of the total number of business entities with blocked accounts. These business entities account for 80.8 percent of the total debt, or 10.4 billion kuna.

In blockade for up to 60 days were 2,894 business entities, and their reported due unpaid payment bases amounted to 493.3 million kuna.

Still, more than 60 percent of blocked business entities or 15,172 have no employees, and they account for 67.8 percent of the total amount of unpaid payment bases.

Of the total 23,999 blocked business entities, more than a third (35.2 percent) are legal entities, which account for the largest part of the total amount of debts or 56.9 percent.

Namely, at the end of March, there were 8,437 legal entities in blockade, with unpaid payment bases amounting to 7.3 billion kuna. These blocked legal entities employed 8,829 workers.

At the end of March, there were also 15,562 individuals, or craftsmen, in blockade, with 7,558 employees, and their unpaid obligations amounted to 5.5 billion kuna.
