American Crystal Tadlock paid dearly for her ignorance of U.S. regulations, as one apple, which she stuffed into her bag instead of eating on the plane, cost her $500, according to U.S. media reports.
After disembarking from a flight from Paris to Minneapolis, U.S. customs found an apple in her bag that she had received during the flight as part of her meal.

She tried to explain to the unyielding officials that she intended to eat it during the next leg of her flight from Minneapolis to Denver.
U.S. customs and border protection did not wish to comment on the case for American media, stating that travelers must declare all agricultural products.
When the customs officer found the apple, she asked him whether she should throw it away or eat it, and instead of an answer, she received a $500 fine.
