Applications for 132.6 million kuna in support for young farmers are starting

Requests for support for young farmers under the Rural Development Program can be submitted from tomorrow until June 13, the Ministry of Agriculture reported on Tuesday.

The call for operation 6.1.1. “Support for young farmers” from the Rural Development Program was published on April 11, and from tomorrow, April 25 at noon until June 13 at noon, it will be possible to submit confirmations of requests for support in AGRONET, the Ministry reminds.

Young farmers aged over 18 and under 40 years (on the day of submitting the support request) who possess appropriate professional knowledge and skills and are being established for the first time as the holder of the agricultural holding, but not longer than 24 months before submitting the support request, can apply for the call.

The new rules allow applications from young farmers for whom agriculture is not the primary activity, so the amount of support that can be obtained is divided into 372 thousand kuna for those for whom agriculture will be the main occupation and who will be obligated to contribute to social security based on agriculture (pension and health insurance) for at least five years after the final payment of support.

Support of 148.8 thousand kuna can be obtained by those for whom agriculture will not be the main occupation and who will not be obligated to contribute to social security based on agriculture.

Minister of Agriculture Tomislav Tolušić emphasized that 132.6 million kuna is available in this call. The purchase of agricultural machinery and equipment, domestic animals, plants, seeds, and planting material will be financed.

The call also includes construction, equipping of spaces, establishment or reconstruction of permanent crops, he said, adding that broad possibilities have been left and he believes that everyone will find something for themselves.
