Pope Francis will buy 3000 ice creams for the homeless on the occasion of his name day, the Vatican announced on Monday.
According to the Catholic calendar, April 23 is celebrated as St. George’s Day, and the pope was born over 81 years ago as Jorge (George) Mario Bergoglio.

To mark the occasion, employees of the papal charitable office will distribute ice cream in Roman soup kitchens and shelters for the homeless run by Caritas.
It is unusually warm in Italy, and temperatures in Rome are expected to exceed 25 degrees Celsius on Monday.
