Strabag’s lawsuit to the Administrative Court will not stop the start of construction of the Pelješac Bridge, said Minister of Transport Oleg Butković, announcing the signing of the contract on Monday. This confirms the writing of Lider, which has explained the procedure several times.
Strabag’s lawsuit will gather dust alongside more than 40 lawsuits in public procurement cases totaling around 400 million kuna. Two and a half months ago, we wrote that it was likely that the tender for the Pelješac Bridge would end up at the High Administrative Court, which is piling up cases waiting for an assessment of the constitutionality of a legal provision.
A solution could come even after the completion of construction. And then, huge compensation payments from the budget are possible. The consolation is that, according to the current passing time, the deficit in the state treasury cannot theoretically exceed 2.4 billion kuna.
On this occasion, Butković revealed a new method of differentiation between good and bad Croats: ‘What kind of citizen of this country would I be if I advocated for stopping the construction of the Pelješac Bridge!’ I am afraid that I am again on the wrong side.
