Today in Croatia: Report on the Excessive Budget Deficit Procedure and Debt

We announce the most important events in Croatia for Friday, April 20:

ZAGREB – Session of the Croatian Parliament (Croatian Parliament, large hall, 9:30 AM).

ZAGREB – Minister of Construction and Spatial Planning Predrag Štromar will hold a press conference related to the subsidization of housing loans (11 AM, Ministry of Construction and Spatial Planning, Ulica Republike Austrije 20, large hall III floor).

ZAGREB – Expert meeting “Care for Victims of Domestic Violence” organized by the Caritas of the Archdiocese of Zagreb on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the Caritas House for Victims of Domestic Violence. Over the past ten years, Caritas of the Archdiocese of Zagreb has cared for 401 victims of domestic violence. In addition to Caritas of the Archdiocese of Zagreb, representatives of the Caritas House for Victims of Domestic Violence, the Department for Juvenile Delinquency of the Zagreb Police, Social Welfare Centers, the Polyclinic for the Protection of Children and Youth of the City of Zagreb, and Caritas Family Counseling will speak about victims of domestic violence, and a former user will also share her testimony. Representatives from the Ministry of Demography, Family, Youth and Social Policy, the City of Zagreb, and Zagreb County, as well as associations dealing with victims of domestic violence, will also attend the meeting (9:30 AM, Archdiocesan Pastoral Institute, Kaptol 29).

ZAGREB – The Croatian Bureau of Statistics (DZS) will present a report on the Excessive Budget Deficit Procedure and the level of general government debt for the period from 2014 to 2017 at a press conference. The data will be presented by DZS director Marko Krištof (11:00 AM, DZS, Ilica 3).

ZAGREB – A conference titled “The Croatian Energy Market in the European Energy Union” will be held organized by the Faculty of Economics Zagreb and KPMG Croatia. The aim of the conference is to encourage the exchange of ideas and experiences and provide practical recommendations for improving the energy market of the Republic of Croatia through dialogue among key market participants and state bodies. ZAGREB – A conference titled “Judicial Practice for the Protection of Consumers of Financial Services with a Focus on the Current Operations of Croatian Banks” will be held organized by the ‘Franak’ Association. The conference will discuss relevant judicial practices of the EU Court, the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Croatia, and civil courts in the Republic of Croatia regarding the protection of consumers harmed by unfair contractual provisions regarding interest rate changes, which was definitively established on June 13, 2014, at the High Commercial Court. The conference will also address the current operations of Croatian banks in the area of interest rate determination. Representatives of the Croatian Banking Association have announced that they will not participate (11:00 AM, Hotel Dubrovnik, Gajeva 1).

RIJEKA – A media presentation will be held on the occasion of the handover of a new mobile RTG device – NUCTECH MT1213DE for the Customs Administration of the Ministry of Finance. The Customs Administration, using available funds from the European Union, has acquired a new mobile RTG device worth 1.5 million euros to strengthen operational capacities for monitoring goods and cargo at the Port of Rijeka. The presentation and handover will be attended by Deputy Director of the Customs Administration of the Ministry of Finance Mario Demirović, Deputy General Director of Nuctech Warsaw Company Limited Li Xi, and CEO of Securitas Croatia Ivan Ročić (11:00 AM, Port of Rijeka, Riva 1).
