cargo-partner donated 1,160 pairs of shoes for charitable purposes

The international info-logistics company cargo-partner, which operates successfully in Croatia, has decided to donate footwear that the final recipient in Slovakia never picked up at the logistics center in Bratislava. A total of 1,160 pairs of new work shoes in various sizes imported from the USA had been stored in Bratislava for several years, as the recipient never collected the shipment.

– At the recipient’s request to have the goods destroyed under customs supervision, we offered the possibility of donating the goods, says Tibor Majzún, director of cargo-partner for Slovakia.

The company requested permission from the customs office in Bratislava to donate the shoes for charitable purposes.

– We would like to thank the customs authorities for their cooperation and the exception made to the standard procedure that allowed us to donate the footwear to non-profit organizations instead of having it destroyed in an incinerator. We are very pleased that the shoes can now serve those who need them the most, added Tibor Majzún.

cargo-partner ensured customs clearance and documentation, and on March 19 organized delivery to several addresses of Slovak non-profit organizations that assist the homeless by providing shelter, healthcare, counseling, job search assistance, field social work, and a wide range of other projects.

One of the organizations, STOPA Slovensko, offers occupational therapy for clients who have lost their daily work routine while living on the streets.

– It is a combination of social work and urban ecology. Our clients work on revitalizing long-neglected green spaces, such as small gardens in front of buildings, forgotten parks, nursing homes, etc. Since good work shoes are needed for all tasks, thanks to the donation from cargo-partner, this problem has been greatly alleviated, explains Pavol Sabela from STOPA.
