Aleksić: Minister Dalić Worked for the Banking System, Against Croatian Citizens

Opposition MP Gordan Aleksić (SNAGA) accused Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Martina Dalić on Thursday, whose recall is being sought by the opposition, of being a “extended arm of the banking system” and stated that she does not belong in public life, but in the private sector.

Martina Dalić is an extended arm of the banking system, she is a banker who does not respect the rule of law and is not interested in the rule of law, and her protector is Prime Minister Plenković who also does not respect the rule of law, Aleksić claimed.

The initiative to remove Dalić has been signed by 37 opposition MPs from six opposition clubs and independent MPs, and the request claims that Dalić has lost credibility. The opposition needs 76 votes for the removal, which is difficult to achieve.

Aleksić criticized the Ministry of Economy, which Dalić heads, for rejecting his legislative proposal last year, which he interprets as a way to return to debtors harmed by the illegal actions of Croatian banks what they overpaid through an extrajudicial process based on a final, collective court ruling.

The ministry rejected my proposal with justifications that were mostly bureaucratic in nature, Aleksić explained, asserting that “public figure” Martina Dalić, as a minister, continued to work for the banking system, against Croatian citizens.

– The entire HDZ works against Croatian citizens; they actually work for corporations, for private interests, not for the interests of Croatian citizens, the MP stated.

He also criticized the minister for rejecting the request from the Franak Association to propose her as a legitimate representative of citizens for the collective protection of their interests in the financial sector. Consumers are the foundation of the economy, not corporations, he explained.

Aleksić reiterated that banks still “rip off” citizens with illegal interest margins, blaming the Croatian National Bank, the government, “people like Minister Dalić,” and the Croatian Parliament for not accepting solutions favorable to citizens.

– I am for the recall of Dalić and I appeal to all of you to recall her, because she does not belong here, she does not belong in public life at all, she should be dealing with the private sector, concluded the opposition MP.
