The film “The Constitution of the Republic of Croatia” by Rajko Grlić has started its regular cinema distribution in Italian cinemas, from Padua, Milan, Verona to Florence, Turin, and Rome.
The Croatian Audiovisual Centre reported that in the first few days of screening, Grlić’s film has already attracted significant media attention in Italy – Radio Rai broadcasted a live conversation with the director, and the film has been covered by the most significant Italian newspapers, Corriere della Sera, La Repubblica, Il Corriere Mereghetti, Il Manifesto, and others.
This “love story about hate” depicts how much intolerance can exist in a small space, in this case, a building in the center of Zagreb, but also how one can attempt to overcome differences and prejudices.
The film stars Nebojša Glogovac, Ksenija Marinković, Dejan Aćimović, and the recently deceased Božidar Smiljanić. The screenplay for the film was written by Ante Tomić and Rajko Grlić, and the director of photography is Branko Linta.
The film has been screened worldwide at numerous film festivals, from which it has won about thirty awards, starting from its international premiere in Montreal in 2016, where it received the Grand Prize of the Americas.
The production is credited to Interfilm from Zagreb, Croatian Radio and Television, In Film Prague, Revolution Skopje, Sever&Sever Ljubljana, and Film&Music Entertainment London. The distribution of the film in Italy is handled by Cineclub Internazionale Distribuzione.
