Last week, SAP completed the acquisition process of Callidus Software, a market leader known for its sales management and CPQ (Configure-Price-Quote) applications. These applications, branded as CallidusCloud, will provide SAP users with the most comprehensive and differentiated portfolio of customer relationship management (CRM) products in the cloud. This positions SAP as a leader in the $46 billion CRM market.

CallidusCloud products, combined with tools from companies that SAP has acquired in recent years, such as the e-commerce company Hybris and Gigya for managing online customer profiles, form SAP’s new front-office suite of intelligent customer experience management solutions:
- CallidusCloud solutions help companies motivate and empower sales personnel,
- Gigya solutions assist companies in adopting a digital approach to marketing, sales, and services while building quality online relationships with customers through appropriate management and collection of customer data – which is particularly important in the context of the upcoming General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR),
- SAP Hybris marketing solutions help marketers engage customers throughout the customer journey (customer journey),
- SAP Hybris service solutions focus on customer retention and enable companies to anticipate how they can offer the best service to customers, and
- SAP Hybris omnichannel solutions for e-commerce and revenue tracking allow companies to engage customers through any channel and device, instantly converting transactions into revenue and growth.

In this way, SAP provides companies with a new CRM to help them reassess customer experience in marketing, sales, service delivery, and data management. At a time when trust is more important than ever and with the GDPR enforcement date approaching, companies have the opportunity to regain customer loyalty. Those companies that adapt the ways they engage their customers, allowing them control over their own digital identities, will succeed in this endeavor.
