Due to the warning strike called by the German union on Tuesday, hundreds of Lufthansa flights have been canceled, the airline said.
Instead of 1600 flights to Frankfurt, Munich, Cologne, and Bremen airports, only 800 will operate, according to a statement from Lufthansa. This will affect 90,000 passengers. Fifty-eight intercontinental flights have also been canceled.

Lufthansa stated that passengers can change their flights without additional charges, or, for domestic destinations, exchange their flights for train tickets.
The escalation of the dispute over public sector wages was dismissed as “unacceptable” by executive Bettina Volkens, who said that the airport is not involved in the wage dispute.

The German union Verdi has threatened that its warning strike will cause disruptions in other parts of the German economy, including local transport, kindergartens, and legal services. Negotiations regarding the wage dispute are expected to begin on Sunday.
