“If we are talking about water, the health of citizens is not threatened. The water is safe, and if someone drinks water now, nothing will happen to them,” said Minister Kujundžić during the celebration of World Health Day at Cvjetni trg in Zagreb.

He emphasized that water analyses in Slavonski Brod are conducted daily, that yesterday’s results were all in order, and that new findings are expected today.

“Then we will consider and likely declare on Monday that the water is suitable for drinking or consumption,” said Kujundžić.

The director of the Croatian Institute of Public Health (HZJZ), Krunoslav Capak, stated that the water in Croatia is generally very good and of high quality, but that sometimes incidents occur, such as the one in Slavonski Brod.

“What is important is that this was a one-time, short incident, and after the first day when hydrocarbons were found in the water, all indicators thereafter show that the water is health-safe,” emphasized Capak.

He expressed hope that in a few days it will be declared that the water in Slavonski Brod is absolutely safe and health-safe for drinking.
