Dolce and Gabbana: Our Fashion House Will Die With Us

Icons of Italian fashion Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana stated on Thursday that their famous fashion house Dolce & Gabbana will die with them.

“When we are dead, we will be dead. I don’t want some Japanese designer to start designing the Dolce & Gabbana brand,” said Stefano Gabbana (55) in an interview with Corriere della Sera.

The fashion veterans launched their brand in 1985 and continue to work together even though they have not been a couple since 2004.

“When we broke up, we agreed to share everything. Because if, for example, something happens to me the next day, he (Dolce) would find himself in a situation where he has to deal with someone who is not involved in the industry, say my cousin, who could ruin the company,” Gabbana said.

“And that’s why we created a foundation that neither of us can touch,” he added.

Dolce (59) emphasizes that they have rejected every offer to sell the brand. “You can have all the money in the world, but if you are not free, what good is it? You don’t go to the grave in a coffin stuffed with money,” Dolce says.

Gabbana claims he doesn’t have time to spend his wealth anyway.

“I am too busy. I don’t want to be any richer, my goal is to be successful,” he said.

Although they are no longer in a romantic relationship, the two men remain extremely connected.

“Even today, what is mine is his, and what is his is mine… Our new partners know that this is the case, whether they like it or not,” Dolce said.
