Members of the Croatian Government have a total of 29 special advisors, seven of whom advise pro bono, while the others receive compensation ranging from 2000 to 10,000 kuna net per month, with the highest number, four each, in the ministries of defense and labor and pension system, the Government responded on Thursday to SDP parliamentary representative Siniša Hajdaš Dončić.
Plenković Engaged Two Special Advisors
The Government states that Prime Minister Andrej Plenković has engaged two special advisors – Ivana Vukov for the improvement of public policies and Krešimir Macan for strategic communication, who receive 9000 kuna net for this work.
The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy, Entrepreneurship and Crafts, Martina Dalić, has engaged Ivana Barać for the digitalization of the economy, who receives a compensation of 4000 kuna.

The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Damir Krstičević has four advisors, and the highest compensation of 10,000 kuna is received by Božo Kožul for advising in the scope of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense’s duties. In the Government’s response, it is stated that he has been receiving this amount since August 1 of last year, and until then, from November 11, 2016, he received 7000 kuna.
General Gotovina Advises for Free
For matters in the defense sector of Krstičević, retired General Dragutin Repinc advises for a compensation of 9000 kuna, and Ivica Ušljebrk, whose initial compensation was 7000 kuna, now receives 8000 kuna since August 1 of last year. Retired General Ante Gotovina advises Minister Krstičević for free.
Minister of Labor and the Pension System Marko Pavić also has four advisors. He is advised for free by Ivanka Springer for the preparation of proposals for certain projects in the labor market, and Darko Cesar for the preparation of proposals for certain projects in the field of labor relations. Ante Vučić advises Pavić on preparing project proposals in the pension system for a compensation of 6000 kuna, while Hrvoje Meštrić advises on aligning the implementation of certain projects in the management of EU operational programs for a compensation of 2000 kuna.

Minister of Environment and Energy Tomislav Ćorić has three advisors – Vedrana Gaće for energy with a compensation of 5000 kuna, and Ivo Ivančić for general policy and international cooperation in the field of environmental protection and energy, and Dinko Sinčić for waste management, who each receive 2500 kuna.
Pro bono, along with Gotovina, advises another retired general – Mladen Markač, specifically Minister of the Interior Davor Božinović, who has engaged Filip Dragović for 5000 kuna for the purpose of proposing solutions to certain issues within the ministry’s scope.
Monitoring the Tourism Development Strategy for 7500 kuna
Minister of Tourism Gari Cappelli has engaged Veljko Mudrić for monitoring and implementing the “Tourism Development Strategy until 2020,” with a compensation of 7500 kuna. Minister of Health Milan Kujundžić is advised by Mate Car for financial matters with a compensation of 9000 kuna and Dubravka Jadro for legal matters for a compensation of 7000 kuna.
Without compensation, Branimir Jerneić advises Minister of Sea, Transport and Infrastructure Oleg Butković on preparing proposals and aligning the implementation of projects related to the financial restructuring of companies and cooperation with international financial institutions, on the restructuring of companies under the Ministry’s jurisdiction and projects in the field of transport, as well as cooperation with the World Bank.

Butković is advised by Damir Sesvečan for a compensation of 5000 kuna on legislative proposals and initiatives within the ministry’s scope, as well as institutions and companies under the ministry’s jurisdiction.
Minister of Culture Nina Obuljen Koržinek has two advisors who receive 4000 kuna each – Miljenko Domijan for the protection of cultural heritage and Ladislav Ilčić for labor rights and the status of artists, as well as for preparing the adoption of a new Artists’ Law and a new Law on Financing Culture.
Pro bono Advisor for Animal Protection
Minister of Regional Development and EU Funds Gabrijela Žalac is advised for 6000 kuna monthly by Zvonimir Savić regarding the development of strategic development plans, strategic planning, and coordination of EU funds, and Marko Lončarević for large strategic projects. Without compensation, Minister of Science and Education Blaženka Divjak is advised by Tamara Perišin for law, academic mobility, and excellence in the European Union, while Maro Alavanja advises her on public relations for a compensation of 4000 kuna.
Luka Oman advises pro bono on animal protection for Minister of Agriculture Tomislav Tolušić, while he is advised for a monthly compensation of 2000 kuna in the field of fisheries by Tonči Božanić.
All the aforementioned special advisors are appointed for the duration of the work’s nature requires, and not longer than the term of the individual member of the Government, states the response from Banski dvori to the SDP parliamentary representative.
