Radošević: Crodux Absolutely Does Not Feel Responsible for Pollution

The director of “Crodux energetika”, Branko Radošević, on Tuesday, at the site where measures are being taken to remediate contaminated areas, reiterated the company’s stance that this incident cannot be linked to the pollution of water at the water supply facility that serves Slavonski Brod and its surroundings. The remediation work for Crodux energetika is being carried out by the company AEKS.

Radošević reported that the first part of the excavation to the pipeline from which petroleum derivatives leaked has been completed, and then, he says, work stopped to allow the police to gain insight into the situation. He believes that the procedure has been carried out according to professional standards so far, but, in response to a journalist’s inquiry about the amount of derivatives that leaked from the pipeline, Radošević is no longer categorical.

– I cannot reliably state whether 150 or 200 liters have leaked. What I can state is that we have collected all the liquid that has leaked and that we found with the water. The liquid has been collected and disposed of in a safe place. The remaining part of the liquid we will probably find in the ground if the ground has absorbed it, said Radošević, refusing to comment on the claims of the mayor of Slavonski Brod that it is possible that around ten thousand liters of petroleum derivatives have leaked.

Radošević did not want to confirm or deny whether he had discussed the incident with the State Attorney’s Office in recent days. When asked if Crodux feels responsible for the pollution of the Slavonski Brod water supply, Radošević was resolute: “Absolutely not”. He noted that the implementation of the analysis of the contaminated soil taken on Wednesday is the responsibility of the company AEKS and that the data on the measures taken and the analysis of soil and water from the accident site have been provided to Crodux, as well as to the City of Slavonski Brod.

The Slavonski Brod City Administration claims that they still do not have data on the chemical analysis and that it is not known which type of petroleum derivatives leaked. Radošević reiterated to reporters that the examination of the pipeline was conducted in accordance with professional standards. Today at 2 PM, Antun Valić, the head of the Brod-Posavina Police Administration, and Mirela Šmital, the county state attorney, will also speak at a joint press conference about the entire case.
