Bjelovar-Bilogora County Secured 800 Thousand Kuna for Student Scholarships

Bjelovar-Bilogora County has allocated 800 thousand kuna in this year’s budget for scholarships aimed at reducing the cost of studying for 82 students from the county area, and County Prefect Damir Bajs signed contracts on Tuesday with 12 scholarship recipients who have earned this right for the current academic year.

Ten Scholarships Annually

The county pays out ten scholarships annually of one thousand kuna each, and so far, 450 students have been supported in this manner.

– Our desire is to make studying easier for our students, and after their studies, to ensure conditions for employment in our region. We grant scholarships to students according to the needs in the economy that we receive from the Croatian Employment Service. Their obligation is to complete their studies and return to work in our county for as long as they received the scholarship, emphasized Bajs.

He noted that Bjelovar-Bilogora County invests in education through excellence center programs in mathematics, English language, and chemistry, as well as through EU projects related to teaching assistants, and free school meals for children at risk of poverty.

Ivan Vrabec, a fourth-year student at the Faculty of Agriculture in Zagreb, expressed hope that he would find a job in the county after graduation.

– The scholarship means a lot to my parents and I believe it will greatly ease my studies. I want to work in my county and I think there is hope for that, emphasized Vrabec.
