Toyota has introduced the third generation of the compact Auris model. In three words, we could describe the history of this model − good, better, best. Expected Move
A major news is that the new generation of Auris will not offer diesel engines. This may initially seem like a significant turnaround, but it is actually an expected move. It should be noted that Toyota is one of the three largest car manufacturers in the world, but for the Japanese, the European market and diesel engines, which are mainly sold on the Old Continent, represent a negligible share of total sales, and they expect to attract some diesel customers with hybrid versions, in which Toyota is the world number 1. The same scenario of abandoning diesel has already occurred with the C-HR model and will be the case with all new models. Thus, the new Auris will offer a classic gasoline turbo engine that develops 116 horsepower and which was already available in the second generation of Auris. The other two engines on offer are hybrids, one weaker than 122 horsepower and the other stronger than 180 horsepower. The basic hybrid is also already in the Prius and is one of the most reliable hybrids on the market, while the real novelty will be an almost sporty version with 180 horsepower. Exact prices are not yet known, and the vehicle will soon hit the market.
