At the meeting of the Civil Protection Headquarters of Brod-Posavina County and the City of Slavonski Brod regarding water pollution at the water supply facility in that city, Prime Minister Andrej Plenković and ministers Damir Krstičević and Tomislav Ćorić arrived on Saturday, and Mayor Mirko Duspara announced before the start of the meeting that he had filed a criminal complaint against the company Crodux.
“I have filed a criminal complaint against Crodux. It is clear here who is responsible for this pollution. Moreover, they tried to downplay the extent of the pollution when they stated that only 150 liters of petroleum derivatives leaked during the testing of the product pipeline,” said Slavonski Brod Mayor Mirko Duspara to Hina.

Residents of Slavonski Brod and surrounding municipalities supplied by the Slavonski Brod water supply facility were left without drinking water on Saturday, as it was determined that the water was contaminated with hydrocarbons and cannot be used even after boiling.
Mayor Mirko Duspara links the water pollution to an ecological incident that occurred on Wednesday when, during the pressure testing of a section of the product pipeline from the refinery in Bosanski Brod to Slobodnica, there was a leak of petroleum derivatives. The testing was conducted by the company Crodux d.o.o. for a possible conversion into a gas pipeline that would supply the refinery in Bosanski Brod.
The company stated on Saturday that the water pollution cannot be associated with the spillage of about 150 to 200 liters of gasoline during the testing of the product pipeline, as this ecological incident occurred at the Slobodnica location, which is 2.8 to 5 kilometers away from the water supply facility.
According to Duspara, the product pipeline is located at a depth of three meters and the pollution is significantly greater.
“If Crodux wanted to seriously approach the remediation, they should have removed all the soil around the site where the petroleum derivatives leaked. Instead, they only removed a layer of about ten centimeters and removed the grass that was scorched,” said Duspara.

In front of the Slavonski Brod city administration, where the Civil Protection Headquarters meeting is being held, concerned parents welcomed the Prime Minister, asking him to take measures to protect the residents of Brod from pollution.
The Ministry of Environment and Energy reported on Friday that the Environmental Protection Inspection in Slavonski Brod has taken a series of actions related to the ecological incident from March 28 when oil spilled at the western entrance to Slavonski Brod and determined that the remediation was unsatisfactory and requested the responsible company to remove the remaining pollution from a smaller area.
